Jordan 1 Rebel XX

The alternative construction of this Jordan 1 Rebel XX gives it a look that is both unique and eccentric, while its color scheme puts it amongst the iconic Chicago colorways. Its foundation is a Varsity Red rubber outsole whose collection of tread patterns makes it grip the ground solidly as the wearer walks. These include concentric rings below the forefoot, star shapes on the toe and lugs around the heel. An irregular hexagon has then been pressed into the midfoot with Nike branding embossed in its center. Layered over this grippy structure is a white midsole with a band of stitching running around its top edge and a blend of foam and Air cushioning inside it, thus offering maximum comfort underfoot.

The design of the upper is completely original as its eyestay and lacing are twisted quirkily across the top of the foot from the medial to the lateral side. Despite this, the usual overlays remain, with a Varsity Red mudguard in the forefoot and two panels reaching upwards from the midsole to connect with the bottom of the eyestay. Here, the lateral one is longer than the medial as it has to stretch further to arrive at the bottom of the Varsity Red eyestay as it bends over the shoe.

A white leather underlayer fills the toe box, a fan of perforations spreading across it to provide breathability, and more white leather shows up on both flanks. That on the lateral sidewall continues backwards to merge with the collar, while both sides of the eyestay curve around the side of the shoe above it, black laces threading through its eyelets. Meanwhile, the medial sidewall has white leather extending from the midsole all the way to the top of the collar as the eyestay arcs laterally away from it. This space has been used to display a large black Nike Air logo, which has been printed on its side down the front of the collar.

Around the back of the shoe, a Varsity Red heel counter covers its bottom half, and the collar wrap, which is the same vivid shade of red, forms two eyelets to accommodate the laces on the lateral side before moving around to fill out the top half of the heel and its medial side as well. This overlay hosts a set of Jordan Wings in black, which are tilted at an angle slightly off from the center of the heel. Below this, a strip of black leather can be seen encircling the heel. On the lateral flank, it forms into a classic swoosh, but on the opposite side, it stops as it touches the zip that extends up the medial sidewall from midsole to topline. This convenient feature makes it easy to open up the shoe for the foot to be slotted into its black interior. Even here, there is a compelling twisted effect as the embroidered patch is set off to the side, while the insole is adorned with a Varsity Red Jumpman. Above this, the white tongue appears in its usual form, a Varsity Red label with white Nike Air branding sewn into its peak to stylishly complete this rebellious design.
