Nike Dunk Low

This Nike Dunk Low takes on a vintage look, with its elegant and restrained use of two muted tones. It firstly features the familiar cupsole seen on other Dunk designs, whose outsole has a combination of concentric circles under the forefoot and lugged structures below the heel to lend it both sturdiness and flexibility. While this component is covered in a pale off-white tone, the midsole resting above it is pure white. Its top edge holds a ring of stitching set into a shallow groove, and inside, it contains lightweight foam cushioning, for comfort and ease of movement.

The upper, meanwhile, brings together a white underlayer, visible through the toe box, midfoot and heel, and a collection of crisp leather overlays. These all come in a light gray tone known as Photon Dust, which forges a wonderfully graceful sneaker from heel to toe. They lie around the forefoot, along the top of the foot and in a sprawling piece that moves from the top of the eyestay to envelop the back of the foot. All of these smooth leather panels are sewn to the upper with pristine lines of stitching, giving the shoe a high-quality feel.

In addition to this, there is a Photon Dust heel panel with bold white letters spelling out the word “Nike” upon it. Instantly recognisable swooshes adorn the sides of the shoe, once again in Photon Dust, and atop the foot, white laces tie up over a similarly colored tongue. There is a white tongue patch here whose surface is subtly marked with Nike branding and a swoosh. Within, the shoe conceals more such light hues, firstly on the flexible mesh that forms the inner lining and again on the insole. Finally, a darker set of branding lies boldly upon the sockliner as a black swoosh appears beside Nike lettering to complete the design with an unexpected and compelling variation in tone.
