Nike Dunk Low x Union LA

This stunning pair of Nike Dunk Low x Union LA sneakers comes in a unique green box with special UN/LA branding and air travel ticket graphics printed across its surface. Made as part of the Passport Pack to honor Union LA’s early years spent searching far and wide for eye-catching apparel and sneakers, this particular design is known as the Argon for its use of a purple blue tone of the same name first seen in the early 2000s. It also comes with a baggage claim tag with dual branding that further commemorates the history behind the shoe.

Its foundation is provided by the classic Dunk outsole, with its combination of circular and linear grip patterns that offer stability to the wearer. This one is translucent blue, revealing a red Union LA Frontman logo in the forefoot. Layered atop this durable base is a white midsole with comfortable foam cushioning that completes the comprehensive support delivered by the cupsole unit.

Meanwhile, the upper alternates between Argon on the base layer and Light Blue on the forefoot mudguard, the eyestay and the rear overlay, both colors being slightly altered in appearance by the layer of tough ripstop material placed over them. The semi-circular heel panel has a gray tone behind its ripstop covering, with Argon Nike lettering set into its surface and orange red stitching along its lower edge. More of this contrasting stitching has been sewn into the other overlays, in some places with a rough unfinished design that pieces of thread hanging off the back of the swooshes. Additional blue lines of stitching run alongside these on the forefoot and rear overlays as well as the eyestay, for an intriguing piece of tonal variation.

The swooshes themselves come in a silvery gray color that offsets the blue tones found across the rest of the sneaker, and the tongue is white, as are the laces that tie up over it and the label sewn into its peak. Light Blue Nike text adorns this label, behind which the Light Blue collar is visible. The soft padding that begins here continues down inside the shoe, where it covers everything but the rich blue Argon Nike branding on the right insole and the Frontman logo on the left.

Back on the outer, familiar perforation holes in the toe box serve to aerate the forefoot, and a duo of Union LA branding effects highlights the rear half of the shoe. The first is a yellow UN/LA tag emerging from the front edge of the rear overlay on the lateral side – a telltale sign of the brand’s Nike collaborations. The second is a pale blue circular badge on the lateral heel which has another Frontman logo in its center. As well as being supplied with a second pair of Argon-colored laces, the ripstop material of the upper can be removed to uncover the soft leather underneath, giving this classy collaboration hidden depths.
