The elegant outer of this Jordan 4 Retro is distinguished by its shiny golden accents, which give it a regal look. Its outsole establishes this sophisticated appearance with its all-over Light Bone coloration, which covers everything from the star-embossed toe to its various herringbone grip sections and the smooth piece set below the center of the midfoot and heel. The only exception to this is the golden Jumpman located in the middle of this smooth area, adding a classy touch underfoot. Alongside this, the zigzagging tread formations all face in different directions to offer the wearer comprehensive traction. This same graceful tone moves up over the toe and lateral side of the midsole, which itself is made of sturdy but lightweight polyurethane and decorated in the slightly whiter shade of Sail. Inside, it contains soft Air cushioning, part of which is visible through the heel window, thus creating high levels of comfort and that classic Air Max aesthetic.

On its upper, the finely crafted appeal of this sneaker continues as it is wrapped in premium leather panels, all of which are Sail in tone. This includes the forefoot overlay, the main section that reaches from forefoot to heel through the middle of the shoe, the quarter panels and the collar. The over-moulded mesh panels also come in this hue as they bring gentle aeration to each quarter and the lower part of the tongue. Higher up the tongue, it switches back to a smooth Sail leather with a Jumpman subtly debossed into its surface. Then, on either side of this, flashy Metallic Gold highlights appear in the form of the lace cages, which shimmer beautifully in the light. There are four in total, two at the top and two at the bottom of the eyestay, each one in a distinctive fan shape and lined with nine holes so that the wearer can adjust the Sail laces to suit their personal preference. Attached to the top ones are the sneaker’s structural wings: triangular pieces of Sail leather that help to bolster the integrity of the sidewalls.

Internally, the well-cushioned inner walls and insole exhibit more gentle off-white tones, as does the back of the tongue, which has an Air Jordan patch sewn into it. Below this, a shimmering Metallic Gold Jumpman adds an eye-catching sheen to the insole. Back on the outer, the heel is adorned with a large panel that has been slotted in between the collar and the main overlay as it loops downwards towards the center of the heel. Its top half has been shaped into a fan to look like one of the lace cages, but it has been embossed with nine cubes instead of nine holes, so the wearer can hold onto it comfortably when pulling the shoe on. Lastly, the lower half of the heel panel has a Sail Jumpman rising up out of its center, thus honoring the legacy of the original silhouette and rounding off this luxurious Air Jordan 4 in heritage style.
