Jordan 1 High x Spider-Man ‘Across the Spider-Verse’

The various patterns and graphics found across this Chicago-themed Jordan 1 High x Spider-Man ‘Across the Spider-Verse’ collaborative sneaker reflect the different illustrations used throughout the 2023 animated movie. Based on the shoe worn by Miles Morales in the second of the Spider-Verse trilogy, it has been nicknamed Next Chapter to denote the continuation of his exciting story. Its foundation is a University Red outsole made from translucent rubber that has concentric rings for grip in the forefoot and blocky lugs providing traction in the heel, while a set of Nike text has been embossed across its center. This feature actually glows a surprising tone of bright white when in the dark, and the midsole above it has a slightly off-white tinge that delivers a retro feel to the shoe. Soft foam pads out its interior, and a band of white stitching encircles its upper edge, adding both comfort and style.

Meanwhile, the upper brings together white leather across the perforated toe box and the midfoot panels with red leather of varying kinds on the overlays. To start with, the three forefoot panels, all of which come in University Red, are made from suede, patent leather and traditional leather, the last around the toe and the others on the lateral and medial overlays respectively. The heel counter, on the other hand, has just two pieces – a triangle of University Red suede on the lateral flank and a larger piece decorated in a blend of darker reds that create a cloudy aesthetic across its surface.

Elsewhere, the eyestay and the collar wrap both alternate between a pattern of tiny red dots on a pink background and a graphic with a series of red, blue and yellow spots layered over each other to resemble an illustration technique used in comic books. A set of Air Jordan Wings composed of a primary layer of University Red and a shadow of muted yellow adorns the lateral collar wrap, and glossy black patent leather forms the main part of the collar itself. The same flashy material has been used to construct the large swooshes that swoop down the flanks, giving the sneaker a dynamic appearance.

The plush interior fabric is also covered in black tones throughout, and the puffy tongue has an off-white hue that resembles that seen on the midsole, once again forging a vintage look. Lastly, the label sewn into the top of the tongue features white Nike branding against a University Red background in conclusion of this superhero-inspired sneaker.
